Will Kevin McCarthy Survive??

One of the most chaotic events in recent political memory involved violence, verbal vitriol, and concessions by lawmakers. No, I'm not talking about January 6th, I am talking about the speaker's race that occurred two weeks ago. Because after weeks of negotiations, House Republicans went to war over Kevin McCarthy's bid to be the 55th speaker of the house. For over three days McCarthy's election seemed uncertain, and the only thing that seemed clear was the stubbornness of the rebellious 20. (The twenty or so far-right house republicans that opposed Kevin McCarthy's bid for speaker through a majority of ballots). In the end, however, Kevin McCarthy did ultimately became the  speaker. But at what cost? Because the truth is despite Kevin's optimistic outlook, he truly is on a political cliff of sorts as he had to bargain a lot to barely clinch the speaker's gavel.

The truth is Kevin will not last very long as speaker because the simple truth is that the reasons for why Kevin failed to become speaker in 2015 and barely won this year, have more to do with the person then an ideological battle in the house amongst common sense conservatives and the freedom caucus. That's bad news for Kevin because it would be easier to convince the holdouts of his ideological bona-fides through the means of a Trump endorsement, however, Kevin isn't a unknown entity and he for years has been seen by many of these holdouts as weak, fake-conservative establishment type that will not stand up for regular day Americans and can't partake in there obstruction. He's like that little kid who ruins the prank by the big kids.

And that is tough to argue against when you have a record of doing dumb things such as destroying the Benghazi committee's credibility by revealing that its sheer motive was to destroy Hillary Clinton's future prospects. This along with his baffling  to have personal likeability by his own caucus has destroyed any and all reason for McCarthy speakership.

You know this to be true when you see his allies saying that he deserves the speakership as the only factually true rational for him to become speaker. I mean c'mon, even my 6-year old cousin can do better than that.

To be fair, he does deserve it considering how many years he spent working for the job. But that same logic can be argued for people such as Jeb Bush and Hillary Clinton, but that logic got them nowhere. Because despite it being brutal , the truth is leadership is more about being the leader for the times and about experience. And that is a good thing because we should be judged on the age of our ideas more then our age.

That is not to say experience doesn't matter because experience comes in all forms and not just being in office. And having experience can help you come up with those next generation ideas. But it depends on what kind of experience your talking about. Because ineffectiveness is ineffectiveness no matter how many years you served. You can't turn silver to gold, you can only paint it gold.

McCarthy has been unable to do both, he has neither been able to be an effective leader nor has he been able to portray himself as a one.

Both those skills are essential to be a politician and are basic essentials to be some miracle. Overall, Mccarthy became speaker by some miracle but the truth is unless he changes the direction of the caucus or he change himself. He will be doomed in this narrow majority congress before he can even change the name of the sign outside the speakership office from Speaker Pelosi to Speaker MCcarthy. Let's just hope his speakership can outlive a lettuce. But tick, tock.
